MYGREAT COOKBOOK
SWITZERLAND

Authored and Creative Director: Christina MacGillivray

2022, Switzerland

Like people, food has a long history of migration—carrying with it shared ingredients, memories, laughter, and the conversations that unfold along the way.

Christina MacGillivray partnered with Nik’s Fudo, a Geneva-based company that celebrates migrant cuisine, to document the personal journeys of women chefs and the role food has played in shaping their lives. Each chef—hailing from Afghanistan, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Kenya, and beyond—brought a unique culinary perspective, reflecting the diverse communities Geneva welcomes to the city.

The book, authored by Christina MacGillivray, focuses on the idea that recipes, like stories, hold history. They are shaped by the people, places, and ingredients that give them meaning. By sharing these recipes, we strengthen the narratives that connect us, opening doors to community, conversation, and a more inclusive future.

Following the publication of the cookbook, Christina MacGillivray partnered with Nik’s Fudo to launch a series of cooking classes in Geneva. Each session featured a different chef, sharing the dishes that shaped her journey. More than just a culinary experience, these classes guided participants through hands-on recipes while fostering conversations about migration, identity, and the personal stories behind each meal. Each dish is more than a meal—it’s an invitation to welcome someone new to the table.

Christina also interviewed Nik’s Fudo for the UN Human Rights #StandUpForMigrants Podcast, where they explored how local programming can help bring communities together across perceived identity barriers.
